The Room & World Mental Health Day 2020

This year's World Mental Health Day comes at a time when all of our lives have changed drastically as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Safe to say, 2020 has brought many challenges for all of us as individuals and businesses, and for those with existing mental health conditions, many are experiencing even greater social challenges than before.

A note from the team:

Here at The Room we are more conscious than ever to offer our continual support to both our brands and talent as we navigate these uncertain times. Our mission remains unchanged in striving to create a safe environment where talent can have great conversations, build genuine partnerships with brands and develop themselves in a positive way. Our foundations are built on creating opportunities for those who feel passionate in expressing themselves in an unrestricted manner; your creative freedom is what makes you unique and appealing to brands who wish to champion your authenticity.

There’s no denying that those of us behind or infront of social media's cameras are always engaged in what's going on across digital platforms. Whether that’s for work or pleasure, we as a society are always engaged in what’s trending. Coupled with the global pandemic, increasing demand for content, personal situational factors, adjusting to the ‘new normal’ has been mentally exhausting. So it’s more important than ever to take time to protect your health, here are some tips from us to help restore your mental wellbeing;

  1. Check your workload - burnout can happen to anyone, and is not a sign of weakness.
  2. Monitor your screen time and set limits - the average internet user spends around 6 hours and 43 minutes online each day. This number can easily double if you are an Influencer or work in Marketing!
  3. Turn off notifications or set ‘Bedtimes’.
  4. Unfollow accounts that don't make you feel good.
  5. Follow accounts that do make you feel good!

Whilst we are always available via the platform and email for any concerns, we acknowledge our professional expertise here are limited. If you are concerned about yourself or a loved one, here’s a list of mental health charities and apps who can offer support and advice;
